Tropismes, série de dessins
Il y quelques jours, je suis arrivé au no 100 de ma série de dessins Tropismes dédiée à la mémoire de l’écrivaine française Nathalie Sarraute. C’était un objectif que d’en faire une série aussi longue, avec l’intention après le centième dessin de passer à un format de feuille plus grand. Toute cette série (ainsi que la plupart des séries précédentes - Mouches, Silence, Nuit, Petits dessins…) a été faites sur des feuilles 22.9 x 30.5 cm. J’envisage maintenant de continuer sur des feuilles 27.9 x 35.5 pour assez rapidement passer à un format cm 45.7 x 61 cm.
J’ai déjà mentionné que la série Tropismes va mener à une performance du même titre. Je me suis en effet engagé à la présenter en juin prochain à Montréal avec la clarinettiste Lori Freedman et à Guimarães au Portugal avec le harpiste Eduardo Raon, deux musiciens qui ont été associés à la performance «49 flies». Mais ce qu’il y a de particulier en ce moment, c’est que mon activité de dessin («dessin» au sens le plus large, car ce que je fais est de plus en plus «painterly» comme on dit en anglais) prenne une place vraiment indépendante par rapport à mes autres activités de cinéma et de performance et qu’elle se poursuive pour elle-même en ses propres termes, ce qui ne m’était jamais arrivé.
