The performance Glaces (Floating Ice) was commissioned by Les Rendez-vous du cinema québécois. It was presented for the first time on February 22 2008 with musician and composer Pierre Duchesne, during an evening that included two other groups doing image and music performances ((Volatile Works and Carl Lemieux). It consist in a meditation on images of floating ice that I shoot in December 2005 at Ste-Hélène island right in front of Montreal. It simply is a very long shot where can only be seen ice floating along the current on the St-Lawrence River. It has an almost abstract quality and is intensely hypnotic. I did this shooting while producing a clip for the fiftieth anniversary of the Art Council of Montreal. Those images readily fascinated me but it took years before I found out what to do with them. They went through elaborate digital processing that resulted in a DVD that is used as a background for live animation.
